about the brand

In 1883 John Bean, a retired inventor, set out to build an innovative insecticide spray pump to combat scale, an infestation that was ravaging California's orchards and endangering the livelihood of growers. In 1904 the Bean Spray Pump Company was incorporated. In 1928 the Bean Company became the world’s largest food machinery manufacturer after acquiring Anderson-Barngrover Co. and Sprague-Sells (canning machinery). A contest was held for a new company name; the winning entry was Food Machinery Corporation (FMC).

FMC, with its Spirit of Invention, inherited from the founder, has grown into a major company with many subdivisions active in various markets, among which the canning industry.
